BENGALI CULTURE WEBSITE

Welcome to the Bengali Culture Website

This site specializes in literary and cultural studies of Bengal. While the focus is primarily on West Bengal, it is not exclusively so,
and topics pertinent to Bangladesh are also included. It is proposed to solicit contributions from experts in the field.
However, some editorial oversight and control will be retained so as to maintain the coherence and quality of the content.

The site is maintained by Sudipto Roy Choudhury, a Mathematical Physicist at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, USA.
Comments and contributions may be submitted to choudhur@longwood.cs.ucf.edu, and I am also reachable at www.math.ucf.edu.

For networking purposes, my education was from St. Xavier's Collegiate School (Calcutta), IIT (Kanpur), and
Cornell University. My literary work includes an anthology of translated Bengali short stories (The Arabian Nights of Calcutta,
Calcutta Writers Workshop, 2002), and translations of some short stories of Samaresh Basu (Prometheus Unbound: Short
Stories by Samaresh Basu, Rupa, 2005). The former is include on this site in the subdirectory stories_anthology,
and can also be accessed by clicking the link of that name. Other publications include articles in World Literature Today,
Asian Affairs, and in the Hindu (Madras) and Statesman (Calcutta).

Although irrelevant to this site, my mathematical work is in Nonlinear Waves and Nonlinear Dynamics.
